    Unexpected Delight in the Details

The moment I entered my room, the cleanliness and the gentle touch of fresh flowers made me feel instantly at home. The staff was warm and welcoming during my stay!

Unfortunately, the persistent noise from the nearby road disrupted my sleep, making it tough to fully unwind at night. A soundproof option would be appreciated.

    well maintained

we enjoyed our stay at portal motel! it’s a basic, old-fashioned american motel, but well maintained. our king room was very clean with a comfy bed and a small fridge. it's also conveniently close to numerous restaurants, making it easy to grab a bite. we had a peaceful night since our room was set back from the road, and we hardly heard any noise.

great location but slightly outdated rooms

The personalized service from the owner made the stay enjoyable. The stunning views of the mountains from the parking lot are a fantastic way to start the day.

The room felt a bit dated in terms of decor.

    Perfect spot for families

Spent one night here and loved it! Room was super clean and comfy. our toddler had space to roam around. It felt recently updated. Plus, it’s a quick drive to Alabama Hills Cafe for some tasty bites. Just wish the breakfast options were a bit better.

    Great Views and Friendly Atmosphere

My stay was enjoyable with beautiful views of Mt. Whitney right from the parking lot! The room was clean, spacious, and equipped with a refrigerator that was perfect for keeping snacks and drinks. I appreciated the warm hospitality of the owner, which added a personal touch to my visit. One downside was the road noise during busy hours, but it didn't significantly impact my overall experience.

    would have stayed for longer

The room was super clean, better than some fancy hotels I'd been to. Had a microwave, fridge, flat-screen TV, and even a table with two chairs. The shower was nice and hot. The location is perfect, right across from The Grill, where the food was great and staff was super nice. It’s a chill spot for families since it’s away from the busy road.

    convenient parking

    older exterior
    limited pillows
    no dining options

Location is ideal with convenient parking right outside the room, making it easy for solo travelers. The air conditioning provided great relief, and the efficiency of the front desk staff was commendable. While the exterior is older, the inside was clean and cozy, complemented by warm bedding and sufficient outlets for devices. Despite wishing for more pillows, the amenities were satisfactory with a fridge and microwave for convenience.
